Effective Meetings (by T.C)
Meetings often start late and run over time. Whether you're the meeting organizer or the attendee, commit to starting and finishing on time. Expect attendees to be punctual and the meeting to finish on schedule. Intolerance for tardiness will set a behavioral standard for the group, and participants will likely conform if expectations are well-defined and consistently enforced.
Meeting Organizer:
-State that the meeting will begin promptly at the scheduled time and that all participants should be on time
-Ensure to begin at the scheduled time. Encourages others to be prompt, don't embarrassing himself by showing up late.
-Close meeting room doors at the scheduled time. There's nothing like late attendees to disrupt the flow of a meeting!
Attendee:
-Reviewing the agenda before heading to the meeting. That helps attendees be better prepared, items to be covered and allow meeting to finish on time!
-Asking relevant questions during the meeting. If a comment isn't directly related to the topic at hand, don't mention it.
-Leave the meeting when it was scheduled to end.
